More about Patrick
Patrick has spent over 25 years as an investment manager and holds an associate membership at the Society of Investment Professionals (ASIP). He started his career in Hong Kong working for KPMG and subsequently in currency markets before returning to the UK to join Homeowners Friendly Society in 1991 where he was part of a team which initially managed the mutual’s own investment portfolio and, latterly, much of the group’s life funds. This gave him a wide experience in research and investment management including direct equity, both in the UK and overseas, collectives and fixed interest. Additionally, an area which remains of interest is environmental and ethical matters managed within a sustainable growth mandate.
In 1998 Patrick gained an MSC in Investment Analysis at Stirling University. In 1999, he joined Rensburg Sheppard (now Investec Wealth) as a discretionary investment manager and latterly as senior investment director, responsible for over £200 million of private and corporate clients. Patrick was responsible for setting up the fund selection process and stood as chairman of their asset allocation and fund selection committees.
Patrick joined Myddleton Croft in 2009 where he chaired the investment committee which had a cautious, but pragmatic, approach to investment strategy and asset allocation. As head of the investment team at Myddleton Croft, he spent much of his time on independent investment research, managing client portfolios day to day and speaking to and meeting private clients and advisors.
Having spent a good deal of his formative years in Hong Kong, Patrick has a strong affinity for Asian culture and his keen interest in horseracing (and horse breeding) developed there. He is a member of York racecourse.
