They say that business is a ‘small world’ and Charles Stanley’s Plymouth office is delighted to announce today that Tracy Smith has not only joined the office as an Investment Manager but also that she and Branch Manager Judith Cook have re-kindled a business relationship that stretches back some 30 years.
Tracy and Judith first met whilst they were both working for the well-known and respected Plymouth based stockbrokers, Westlake & Co. which underwent several take-overs and name changes (Allied Provincial, Greig Middleton, and Gerrard) to finally become Barclays Wealth in Plymouth. Westlake & Co. was one of the oldest established stockbrokers in the area, tracing its origins back some 150 years and Judith and Tracy worked together at the company for some 16 years before Judith left to join Charles Stanley in 2000.
Tracy stayed on before leaving what was then Barclays Wealth in 2007 where she was Associate Director to join Brewin Dolphin as a Divisional Director and now joins Charles Stanley in Plymouth at an interesting time for this highly successful and respected office in the company’s national network of 32 offices.
Judith Cook, commenting on her arrival, said: “I am delighted that Tracy has chosen Charles Stanley to continue her career in investment management. The industry is changing apace but she joins our Plymouth Office at a time when we are more useful than ever to Private Clients, trusts and charities with our bespoke offering of investment management and pensions. It is abundantly clear that our clients welcome our investment style and Tracy will be a fantastic addition to the team. I am also delighted that someone whom I have personally known for some 30 years, gosh is it that long (?), is coming to work alongside again – it is a hugely exciting time for the office.”
Tracy was educated in Plymouth before starting her career with Westlake & Co. She is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments and a member of the CII. She specialises in managed Discretionary and Advisory portfolios for private clients, trusts, charities and pension funds.
Upon joining Charles Stanley in Plymouth, Tracy commented: “It is such a great pleasure to be reunited with Judith at Charles Stanley and was one of the deciding factors in my move. My view on the investment management sector going forward is that Charles Stanley is one of the few companies that really serves its clients well and every part of the firm is dedicated to the interests of the end client. That is a huge testament to how well they have navigated the changing regulatory environment and I very much look forward to building my business and re-connecting with my old client base in due course as well as re-kindle a friendship and business partnership with Judith.”
