Simon is the Branch Manager for the Oxford office and manages portfolios predominantly for private clients, Trusts and pensions companies. He graduated with an honours degree in rural estate management from the Royal Agricultural College Cirencester in 1995. After two years Simon moved to Oxford where he joined Gerrard and in 2005 he moved to Charles Stanley. Simon and his young family live just outside of Cirencester where he is a keen supporter of community activities. Simon enjoys country pursuits, is an enthusiastic fly fisherman who also enjoys walking his dogs and shooting. Simon is a Committee member of the Oxfordshire Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust. He is also the inspiration behind the Oxford Office's Corporate Membership of the Countryside Landowner's Association.

Helen spent 15 years in the Army, with her last job being the Army member for the 50th Anniversary of the D Day commemorations. She then moved in to private client stockbroking because, as she says, “I like dealing with people and money”. She has moved from a regional stockbroking firm to the Oxford office of Charles Stanley. She enjoys singing and is a member of the Oxford Bach Choir, skiing (badly), and her annual trip to Lourdes as a helper. Helen is a trustee of the Women's Royal Army association and a trustee of The Newman Trust.

John Shelvey has a Plant Sciences degree from Oxford University. After graduating he joined Equity & Law Life Assurance Company and spent eight years as a UK equity analyst and fund manager. He then spent another eight years managing the £600 million UK equity portfolio of the Blue Circle Pension Fund before joining Majedie Investments, the self-managed quoted investment trust, assisting with the management of its global equity portfolio. In January 2004 he joined Redmayne-Bentley in Abingdon as a private client stockbroker and finally fulfilled his ambition of working in Oxford when he joined Charles Stanley in May 2014. John lives in Oxford with his wife and twelve year old son. Leisure interests include walking, cycling, food & wine and scripophily.

Sara has a degree in Financial Economics from the University of Leicester, brings expertise in wealth management gained during her career with Thesis Asset Management in Guildford where she obtained the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment's highest qualification, the Masters in Wealth Management. She then spent two and a half years in the Abingdon office of Redmayne-Bentley before the team joined Charles Stanley in May 2014. Outside the office, Sara is an active Community First Responder attending 999 Ambulance calls where there is a life threatening situation, such as a patient losing consciousness or suffering a heart attack or breathing difficulties. As volunteers based in their local communities, the aim of a CFR is to provide early basic life support ahead of the arrival of an ambulance.

Giles Arkell was educated at King Williams College Isle of Man. After leaving school, he spent two years with Barclays Trust Company. He then completed a Higher National Diploma in Business Studies and joined Charles Stanley in May 1984. After working as an income analyst in the London office servicing mainly institutional clients, Giles transferred to the Oxford Office in 1995. Giles lives near Oxford with his wife and two children. Leisure interests include family activities, motorcycling, skiing and gardening.

Hayley joined Charles Stanley in February 2014 as a Branch Assistant after studying an English Literature degree in Bath. Having completed the first round of exams, Hayley has now taken on the role of Trainee Investment Adviser (the first for the Oxford office!) and is studying towards becoming a chartered FCSI. Daily duties include; assisting with research and portfolio construction for clients, client reviews, investment proposals, client liaising and attending various presentations and workshops. Hayley works alongside Giles Arkell and also has her own Execution only client base.

Heidi is originally from Cape Town. She moved to Ireland with her husband in 2001. She worked as a Personal Assistant in an Architectural Practice and then moved to the UK in 2011 where she worked as a Personal Assistant. She spends her spare time running after her two kids and swimming. Heidi joined the Oxford office in May 2015. Her role of Branch Assistant includes answering the phones and general administrative duties.

Ria Shepheard ACSI

Ria joined Charles Stanley in early 2011 after working as an insolvency administrator. Ria heads up the administration team and manages all aspects of the office including monitoring client’s suitability, assisting all Investment Managers with client matters, dealing with the Execution only trades and facility management. Ria also co-ordinates all events and seminars for the Oxford office, assisted by our Marketing department.

Originally from Herefordshire, Amy moved to Oxford in 2011 to study Mathematics at Oxford Brooks University where she graduated with a 2:2. Whilst studying she helped out in an East Oxford pub and, on the completion of her degree, went on to run it for 6 months before joining Charles Stanley in September 2016 as a Branch Administrator. More recently, Amy has changed roles and is now a Brokers’ Assistant, assisting the Investment Managers with all the administrative queries, including suitability assesments, portfolio reviews as well as liasing with clients and professionals. In due course, Amy will begin the first round of her studies to become an Investment Manager. In her spare time Amy enjoys attending literary events and art exhibitions.

Jessica lives in Witney, Oxfordshire. Upon completing her A levels in Maths, Economics and English Literature in 2016, she went on to start work in a local bridal shop before becoming a front of house team member at the local leisure centre. Jessica is our newest member having joined the Oxford Office in March 2017 as a Branch Assistant. Jessica provides support to the office with all administrative matters, including client queries, telephone, meetings and post duties. Jessica spends most of her spare time at the Witney 2120 Air cadet Squadron, helping out the younger community as a fighter Sergeant again furthering her skills in a range of different ways.
