Benjamin is a Portfolio Manager in the Charles Stanley Cambridge branch. In this role, he applies investment analysis and research to portfolio construction for clients. He joined in August 2020 having worked at a regional model portfolio solution provider for 5 years, and before that at Hargreaves Lansdown. He is currently a CFA Level II candidate.

Richard joined Charles Stanley as a senior investment manager in 2005, having been with Gerrards for 15 years. He has been in the market for some 40 years, although initially had a spell as a professional musician and in later years left the City for 2 years to run a family engineering business following the death of his father. He attained a post graduate Diploma in Management Studies from Aston University Business College and is a Chartered Fellow of the Securities Institute and a member of the Economics Research Council. He manages both advisory and discretionary portfolios on behalf of private clients, trusts and individual pension funds. Apart from playing music, his main hobby is sailing off the Isle of Wight.

Carolyn graduated from Loughborough University Business School with a First-Class Honours degree and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments. She has worked in the industry for over twenty years, investing in a variety of assets for a diverse private client base, which includes trusts, charities, pensions and companies. During this time, she has developed strong relationships with IFAs, solicitors and accountants and is passionate about ensuring clients are offered a holistic and bespoke approach to their affairs. That she has brought many of these relationships with her to Charles Stanley amply demonstrates the trust and respect that clients and professionals have for her. Carolyn is a regular contributor to the business and finance pages of the Yorkshire Post and Yorkshire Life. Having retired as a trustee after nine years at Leeds Beckett University Students’ Union, Carolyn became a trustee at Leeds Community Foundation and the Chair of the Foundation’s Income Generation Committee in 2019, which provides valuable knowledge into the requirements of, and pressures on, the third sector. Outside of work, Carolyn is a keen runner and has raised money for various local and national charities by participating in sponsored running and walking events. Having recently tried open water swimming and cycling, she has concluded that she prefers activities where her feet are firmly on the ground!

Christina joined Charles Stanley in January 2018 and has over 30 years’ experience in financial services having previously worked for two major advice companies. She carries out the research and analysis for the advice reports and provides technical support and guidance in all aspects of financial planning including pensions, investments, and estate planning for the planners. Christina holds the STEP Certificate for Financial Services – Trusts and Estate Planning and is also a Chartered Financial Planner and Fellow of the Personal Finance Society. Outside of the office Christina enjoys the theatre, reading and her garden.

Morgan joined Charles Stanley in January 2017 and looks after the fund range covering direct equities and fixed income securities as well as multi asset strategies. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Finance from EDHEC Business School in France and a Master of Science in Investment Management from Cass Business School in London. Prior to joining Charles Stanley, Morgan worked at Credit Suisse within the discretionary multi-asset team. He has passed Level I and Level II of the CFA Program, and is currently a Level III candidate.

Jane Bransgrove joined Charles Stanley in 2013 when the company acquired Pan-Asset Capital Management. She previously worked at Sarasin Chiswell (formerly Cantrade), having studied at Loughborough University reading Accounting and Financial Management. Jane looks after private clients, charities and trusts and manages model portfolios for financial advisers, specialising in active asset allocation combined with passive implementation. She is an Associate member of the CFA Society of the UK and Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

Ian has been the Branch Manager of the Dorchester office for 13 years. He is an Investment Manager and has looked after portfolios for private clients, trustees, pension funds and charities for almost 30 years. Ian began his career in stock broking with Richardson Chubb Love Rogers in 1987 when he returned to his home town of Dorchester after graduating from University with a Honours degree in Natural Sciences. After gaining the Securities Institute Diploma, he was elected to Membership of the London Stock Exchange and is now Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities & Investments. Ian opened the Dorchester office in 1992 for Robson Cotterell Ltd and joined Charles Stanley when Robson Cotterell was acquired by them in 2002. Under Ian’s leadership the Dorchester branch has grown with brokers Kate Spurling joining Ian in 2003 and Sam Houston and Henry Staveley-Hill (now retired) transferring from the Bournemouth office in 2005 and most recently Abby Johnston and Shelley James in 2014. Ian is supported by Jeremey Messenger who assists Ian with portfolio management and Clare Tonge who assist with client administration. Outside the office, Ian is a Chair of Governors and is involved with a number of local charities and acts as a trustee for local bodies and a number of his long standing clients. Home is a village just outside Dorchester, with his wife and three children. Ian leads his local Scout Troop. He also enjoys skiing and sailing.

Bob is a CFA Charterholder, holds the Investment Management Certificate, and has a degree in Philosophy from the University of Warwick.

Paul is a Branch Director of the Exeter Office and manages portfolios predominantly for private clients, trusts and pensions. He is an economist by training, holding a degree in economics from the University of Southampton from which he graduated in 1997, joining the office the following year. Paul is from a local farming family and has developed a niche in advising agricultural charities amongst other charities for which he manages investments. Paul and his family live in East Devon where he is a keen supporter of community activities. In 2012 he was appointed a governor of the local primary school where his children were pupils and sits on the Finance and Resources committee following the creation of a federation with a neighbouring school. When the commitments of a busy family life allow, Paul enjoys walking particularly on Dartmoor, the occasional game of tennis and is a keen target rifle shot, also being treasurer of the local association.

Adam Carruthers is Collectives Analyst at Charles Stanley. He is responsible for the selection of best-in-class managers across all asset classes for inclusion in Charles Stanley’s multi-asset class portfolios and in the company’s collectives Preferred List. He was previously a Fund Manager with Barclays Wealth and Investment Management, responsible for the day to day management of a suite of UCITS multi-manager vehicles across multiple domiciles. Adam graduated with a Masters degree in Economics from Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh, and holds the Chartered Wealth Manager designation from the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment.

Christopher joined Torrie & Co, an independent private client stock broker in 1987. He became a partner of Torrie & Co in 1996 until 2002 when Torrie & Co became part of Charles Stanley. He has been the joint Branch Manager of the Charles Stanley Edinburgh office since 2002 along with his colleague Ian Harley. Christopher has a BA in Accountancy and is a Chartered Member of the Securities Institute. Christopher has a strong farming background. Christopher has always had a keen interest in the stock market, spending a great deal of time meeting fund managers and companies.

Andrew Clifford has over 18 years of experience providing financial planning advice to Private Clients, Trusts and Corporate Bodies. Based in the Guildford office, he supports the investment managers provide a comprehensive advice service to Charles Stanley’s direct clients. He graduated from University of Wales College Cardiff in 1993 and joined the Medical Sickness Society in 1995, which subsequently was purchased by Wesleyan Assurance Society, following a short stint working on a financial trade publication. Having worked for almost 12 years for Medical Sickness, he moved to Pannells Financial Planning (formerly PKF Financial Planning), providing advice to clients of PKF (UK) LLP and latterly BDO (UK) LLP accountants and business adviser in Guildford before joining Charles Stanley in December 2013. Andrew has extensive knowledge of working with high net worth clients and SMEs, as well as a specialisation in medical and dental professionals working within the NHS Pension scheme, providing advice services to other professional partnerships of accountants and solicitors. Outside work, Andrew spends much of his time, with his wife ferrying his children to the myriad of swimming and cross country events at the weekends, as well as the endless parties. However, in the spare time available, he regularly enjoys mountain biking in Swinley Forest and less regularly now skiing. Having recently purchased his first family tent, Andrew will be looking forward to some rain free weekends.
