About our Manchester team
Established in 1997, the Manchester office is home to a highly experienced team of eight investment professionals, along with four support staff, who all work to provide their clients with a truly bespoke service.
Supporting a wide range of clients including individuals, charitable trustees, solicitors & accountants, intermediaries and institutions; the team specialises in providing investment management services, managing SIPPs, stocks and shares ISAs and working with Financial Planning colleagues to provide retirement planning, inheritance tax planning and cash-flow modelling When the team meets a client for the first time, they start with a blank piece of paper because no two clients are the same; taking the time to get to know each client and assess exactly what their requirements are to find the most suitable solution for their needs.

More about Jonathan
Jonathan has over 25 years of experience in financial services and specifically the management of client money. He is also a qualified Financial Adviser who can give advice to charities, individuals, trusts and pension clients. He is level 6 qualified having completed numerous financial planning qualifications and also completed the PCIAM and full IMC papers in Wealth Management. Jonathan is often quoted in the personal finance section of the Yorkshire Post in between juggling the office, Jonathan recently took up trail running with his wife Claire, They can be found running at events throughout Yorkshire including, Wharfedale, Wensleydale, North Yorks Moors and the Cleveland Way. He has three sons of which one is studying medicine at Edinburgh University and his other two sons both attend Ripon Grammar School. Jonathan is a fully qualified Community First Responder and is quoted as saying “The best time of the day is 05:30 when he and “Billie” his working cocker go for a walk by themselves”.
More about Ian
Ian joined Charles Stanley over 10 years ago on work experience during University holidays. After achieving a first class degree in Economics and a Masters in Business Analysis and Finance, Ian then joined Charles Stanley full time. After a few years gaining a valuable insight into the back office, Ian is now a fully qualified Investment manager with added experience in areas such as traded options and spread betting. Ian can offer all stockbroking services and is looking to expand his own client base. Outside of the office, Ian's Interests include golf, hockey and football, as well as travelling and films.
More about Mark
Mark is a graduate of Keble College, Oxford University and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. His career in stockbroking and wealth management started in 1987 and he became a member of the Stock Exchange in 1991. He manages investments for private individuals, trusts, pensions (including SIPPs) and corporations. He works closely with other advisers to help ensure portfolios are not over-risked while striving to achieve client return objectives. Mark lives in Cheshire with his wife Sara, their children having flown the nest. His interests outside work include golf, travelling and wine.
More about Richard
Richard is a graduate of Nottingham University and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. Richard has a wealth of experience in stockbroking, he joined the Manchester branch in 1999 previously having worked at Charles Stanley’s head office in the City of London. He manages investments for private clients across all the various service levels. Richard lives on the Wirral with his wife Rachel and his three daughters. Outside of the office he coaches his daughter’s hockey team, plays golf at Caldy Golf Club and has a season ticket at Liverpool Football Club.

Gary is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and started his career as dealer at TD Waterhouse in 2000. In 2004 he joined Brown Shipley where he spent 2 years as a broker’s assistant before moving to Charles Stanley in 2006. Gary qualified as an Investment Manager in 2006 and gained personal Chartership in 2010. He specialises in discretionary portfolio management for private clients, trusts, pensions and corporations. Gary is married with three young daughters. In his limited spare time, he trains together with his family in kickboxing, ju-jitsu and karate in which he, his wife and eldest daughter hold black belts, and also likes to play electric guitar.

Gideon started his career in 1987 at Battye Wimpenny & Dawson before moving down to London to work as a jobber on the Stock Exchange in the early 1990's. In 1993 he moved back up north, joining Brewin Dolphin and then subsequently Charles Stanley in 2000. In his spare time, Gideon plays cricket and football and is a keen supporter of Burnley FC.

Starting his career in 2000, Lee manages both High Net Worth clients and Intermediary relationships mainly in the North West. He specialises in discretionary investment management and is pushing forward the profile of Charles Stanley, especially with Financial Advisers in the North West. Lee has a number of industry recognised qualifications and is a Chartered Member of the Securities Institute. Outside of work Lee is a keen sportsman although he will tell you injuries stopped him turning professional in any. He also enjoys seeing new cities with Rome being a particular favourite alongside good food, drink and company.

A History graduate of Manchester University, Richard joined Charles Stanley from TD Waterhouse in 2007 where he had been a Senior Investment Representative. Richard specialises in discretionary portfolio management for private clients, trusts, pensions and corporations and works closely with financial advisors in the North West. He has over 19 years’ experience in the industry with over 10 years at Charles Stanley and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. Outside of the office Richard has a keen interest in film having once help manage the oldest independent cinema in the country. He is also an enthusiastic musician, skier and annual golfer.
More about Nick
Nick joined the Charles Stanley Intermediary sales team in February 2016. Prior to joining, Nick worked at Standard Life for 13 years as business development manager dealing with banks, wealth managers, building societies and financial advisers. Previous to that role, he spent 14 years at Axa as a regional account manager. Professionally he holds both the Chartered Financial Planner and Chartered Wealth Manager qualifications plus he has also passed the Society of Trustees and Estate Practitioners (STEP) certificate for Financial Services. The focus at Charles Stanley will be to develop financial adviser relationships across the North of England working closely with the Investment Managers in the Leeds and Manchester offices. Along with investment Nick will bring his knowledge of retirement and succession planning strategies to the role. Outside work Nick is interested in a range of sports but in particular enjoys watching his son compete in swimming galas and triathlon events.
