Sue has extensive experience with personal injury and Court of Protection cases and we knew she would make a great addition to our team
It can be a difficult task to look at details on a spreadsheet and bring them to life, but Sue has a knack of deep diving into each client’s circumstances, showing empathy and understanding of their needs, and reflecting them in her report writing.
How did your journey with Charles Stanley begin?
Prior to the pandemic I took the decision to find a more family friendly role that provided me with greater flexibility to work around my children. The pandemic then gave us the gift of home schooling as well as working full time which for many of us was quite the challenge! I was therefore delighted to receive a message from my old colleague, Bob Farnworth, who was looking for a paraplanner to join the team following the move to Charles Stanley. It gives me a chance to put the skills I’ve gained over the years into practice, providing technical support to Bob, Richard and our team in London, all while being supported to work around my children in the family friendly environment that is embedded here.
What makes you proud to work for Charles Stanley
Charles Stanley was to me, always a very prestigious company that I admired from the sidelines, they’ve been around for a very long time and have an excellent reputation. It has been a real honour to immerse myself in the culture that has been carefully nurtured by senior management. It says a lot about a company when so many employees have been here for such a long time and have progressed their careers.
Quick-fire round
- Favourite charity
My favourite charity is the Torbay Holiday Helpers Network, this charity was started in 2009 by an old friend of mine, Luke Tillen, who runs a B&B in Babbacombe, Devon. They provide families of seriously ill children and those recently bereaved, with fully funded holidays and activities for ‘memory making’. - What is your superpower
I can immerse myself in a client overview letter/financial details and build a picture of what their life might look like. I visualise the person and use the tiniest snippets of information to create their world in my head. Only when I have done that, will I start a report. I am passionate in my belief that the person should come ahead of the numbers. - Favourite book
Too many to pinpoint one book, but I adore anything written by Lucinda Riley, particularly the Seven Sisters series. - Guilty pleasure
Trashy TV. Think Selling Sunset, The OC, Below Deck, that kind of thing! - Favourite way to spend a Sunday
Being woken by the noisy sheep at our little caravan on Anglesey, taking our dog Jess for a long walk on Lligwy beach, followed by a Sunday roast with the family.
