This year saw the return of the Standard Chartered Great City Race which took place on Tuesday, the 20th July 2021 from the grounds of the Honourable Artillery Company (HAC). An absolutely barmy 27 degrees heat awaited the 12 eager but slightly jittery, Charles Stanley runners lined up to do their part for charity and clinch the bragging rights to the quickest time around the 5km city course.
Over 2000 runners participated in this year’s race and given the sheer numbers put out by much larger firms, Charles Stanley punched well above its weight. Lewis Kuhler was the first Charles Stanley runner home (83rd overall) in a stellar time of 18:56. Hajni Zsila was the first female Charles Stanley runner (119th Female) across the line in a time of 25:05.
A special mention must go to Charles Milner, Janes Bransgrove and Paul Watson who came 8th, 13th and 18th in their categories respectively.
A very well organised event and special mention must go to Ralph McBaiden for his efforts on the fundraising side for Open Palm, the Charity of the Year.
