More about Charles
Charles Turton has over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry. He is a fully qualified Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment and is the Branch Manager of the Guildford office He graduated from Durham University and joined Greig Middleton Stockbrokers in 1994. This evolved into Gerrard Investment Management and subsequently Barclays Wealth. He moved to Charles Stanley in 2007. He became a Fellow of the Securities Institute in 1998 and specialises in Private Client, Trust, Charity and Pension portfolio management. He was born locally in Dunsfold, now lives on the outskirts of Guildford and enjoys his walk to work. In his spare time he is kept busy by his wife and young daughter. He is a Director of the Charlotteville Jubilee Trust, a local charity, and has a general interest in skiing, boating and classic cars.

Andrew has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry . He is a fully qualified Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment. Prior to joining Charles Stanley in 2007, Andrew previously worked for Gerrard Investment Management (from 1995). Andrew has worked in the industry since 1989 and became a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments in 2000 and subsequently a Chartered Fellow at the end of 2010. Andrew specialises in Trust, Pension and Private Client portfolio management. Andrew is a qualified athletics coach. When not working he spends his time listening to his two sons who play the guitar and drums in local bands around Surrey.

George Coster has over 18 years of experience in the financial services industry and is a fully qualified Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment. George has taken and successfully passed all units of the CISI Masters in Wealth Management, achieving a distinction in the final unit. George spent 8 years working in Charles Stanley's London office and joined the Guildford team in September 2013. In 2012 George headed up the Charles Stanley Retail Bond Team that won the Investors Chronicle and FT Investment award for Best Stockbroker for Bonds. As an Investment Manager he has particular interest in managing a range of discretionary and advisory portfolios on behalf of private individuals and Trusts. George is a keen runner. More about Louis
Louis is a Senior Investment Manager at the Guildford office and manages portfolios predominantly for private clients, trusts and pension schemes. He has been with Charles Stanley since 2005, after leaving Sixth Form College with A Levels in Law, Business Studies and Communication Studies. He became a member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments in 2007, and obtained personally Chartered status in 2010. He is also one of the youngest people in the country to have taken and successfully passed all units of the CISI Masters in Wealth Management. Louis has day to day involvement with our Intermediary business in addition to the private client facing element, and is keen to both keep existing client and intermediary relationships strong, and to build new relationships over time. Louis' interests outside the office mainly consist of historic/classic cars and spending time with his young family.

Andrew Clifford has over 18 years of experience providing financial planning advice to Private Clients, Trusts and Corporate Bodies. Based in the Guildford office, he supports the investment managers provide a comprehensive advice service to Charles Stanley’s direct clients. He graduated from University of Wales College Cardiff in 1993 and joined the Medical Sickness Society in 1995, which subsequently was purchased by Wesleyan Assurance Society, following a short stint working on a financial trade publication. Having worked for almost 12 years for Medical Sickness, he moved to Pannells Financial Planning (formerly PKF Financial Planning), providing advice to clients of PKF (UK) LLP and latterly BDO (UK) LLP accountants and business adviser in Guildford before joining Charles Stanley in December 2013. Andrew has extensive knowledge of working with high net worth clients and SMEs, as well as a specialisation in medical and dental professionals working within the NHS Pension scheme, providing advice services to other professional partnerships of accountants and solicitors. Outside work, Andrew spends much of his time, with his wife ferrying his children to the myriad of swimming and cross country events at the weekends, as well as the endless parties. However, in the spare time available, he regularly enjoys mountain biking in Swinley Forest and less regularly now skiing. Having recently purchased his first family tent, Andrew will be looking forward to some rain free weekends.

John is a Senior Investment Manager at the Guildford office and manages portfolios for private individuals and trustees. John joined Charles Stanley in January 2018, having managed portfolios in Guildford for over a decade. John has worked with investments since 2004 and has managed portfolios predominantly on a discretionary basis since 2007. In addition to portfolio management John has previously undertaken investment research that was focused on the London-listed media and technology sectors and North American equity investment via collectives, trackers or ETFs, and structured products. John is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments (CISI) and a Chartered Wealth Manager. In 2016 he was named by PAM (Private Asset Managers) as one of the ‘Top 40 Under 40’, a definitive guide to the rising stars in the private banking and private asset management sectors. John has considerable experience of working with financial planners and their clients. Away from the office John enjoys cycling, music and travel.

Nicola graduated with a First Class Honours degree at The University of Birmingham and now has over 10 years’ experience working in Investment Management. Since joining Charles Stanley in 2014 Nicola has worked with a diverse range of clients such as Private Individuals, Charities, Pension Funds and Companies to ensure they take the right path when working to achieve their financial goals. Nicola has also built strong relationships within the IFA community where she works with other professionals to deliver bespoke investment solutions. Nicola is a Governor of the Harrogate Ladies College and chairs the Investment Committee, she also plays an active role as a committee member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments.

Kate Nathoo has over 25 years investment experience. She was a founding partner at Daniels Holt Investment Managers and Client Director at Thesis Asset Management. Kate is a Chartered Fellow of the CISI and was President of the CISI Southern Branch from 2016 to 2018. Kate joined the Charles Stanley Guildford office in May 2018. She continues to specialise in the provision of Discretionary Investment Management for Private Clients, Trusts and Charities. Kate is a Trustee for a local professional theatre company, Guildford Shakespeare Company; she loves both theatre and classical music. She also enjoys local walking afforded by the beautiful Surrey Hills countryside.

Angela Banks joined Greig Middleton Stockbrokers in 1987 and passed her Registered Representative exam a few years later. She worked in the Guildford office for 20 years, seeing the changes in the firm to Gerrard and then Barclays Wealth, and provided full secretarial and administrative support to the varying teams over the years. She joined Charles Stanley in 2007, together with the rest of the Guildford office, where she continues to provide support to the team. Angela actively supports a local charity, Walk the Walk Worldwide (famous for their MoonWalks in aid of breast cancer), and has done for many years. She enjoys music and spending time with her family.

Caroline commenced her working career within the legal profession followed by learning the background to stockbroking within Barings, prior to their takeover by ING, where she assisted with setting up the High Net Worth Client department. Caroline also takes on the responsibility for organising a number of Charles Stanley's Guildford office events. Her interests include photography, travel, theatre and cookery.

Sammy O’Brien came to us from a legal background and joined Gerrard in 2005 which then evolved into Barclays Wealth and latterly moved to Charles Stanley in 2007. Charles and Sammy have built up a strong and definitive Probate Valuation Department with local solicitors in the Guildford and surrounding area. She provides administrative and secretarial support to the team and is often the first point of contact for the majority of the team's clients. Her interests include singing, acting and directing and she has written her own musical which was performed in Dorking. During the current COVID19 crisis Sammy has been singing to the residents in care homes in and around Surrey.
More about Tina
Tina has worked in financial services for over 20 years supporting financial advisers from secretarial and client support to technical administration. Prior to this Tina worked as a legal secretary, as well as roles in industry which included IT support for an engineering company. Outside work Tina enjoys reading, watching TV & films. Tina also loves most animals, which explains why most of the local wildlife can be found visiting her garden, in search of an easy meal.

Claire joined Charles Stanley in 2014 having relocated from Swindon. Before joining, Claire worked for 7 years at Zurich Financial Services as a specialist in Investment Administration. Claire is an associate of the CISI (having passed the IOC) and a member of the CMI (having a Diploma in Management Development).

Mark began his financial services career in 2001, and is a qualified ‘non-practising’ Chartered Financial Planner. He has worked for a number of major UK life offices specialising in taxation and trust work, with a wealth of experience in regulation and business development. Mark joined Charles Stanley in 2013 to provide support and help develop Charles Stanley’s intermediary service.
