Taking care of each other - 8 April 2020

Our latest note from Paul Abberley - CEO with guidance, market update and things to keep you busy.

Paul Abberley

I’ve written regularly over the past few weeks as we adapt to new circumstances and wanted to update you on our latest developments.

With external factors outside of our control such as postal delays and banks making it more difficult to pay in physical cheques, please read see our tips on how we can work together to avoid any unnecessary interruptions to the service you receive. In certain instances, it is becoming more difficult to deal with physical post. If you are planning to send anything by post, do please let us know in advance and we will contact you if necessary to agree the best way to get things done.

Tips on how we can work together

Stay well at home

Last week we launched our Charles Stanley Community offering additional support for anyone that needs it.  As well as practical help, we are also providing some other ways to help you stay well at home.  This week check out our gardening tips from Country Life, productions from the National Theatre or art projects you can do together from the Royal Academy of Arts.  If you need any help, fill in the form on our website or email your usual Charles Stanley contact or [email protected]

Charles Stanley Radio and ‘Housebound’ videos

As well as these regular updates and market commentary on our website, we have been looking at new ways we can stay in touch.  We have therefore launched our Charles Stanley Radio podcasts and ‘Housebound’ Facetime videos for you to listen to or watch.

Get expert market and personal finance commentary, an informal personal insight into how our staff are adapting to life in lockdown or specialist content from our partners.  You can listen to our Charles Stanley Radio interviews through our website or Spotify or watch ‘Housebound’ videos through our social media channels.

Pulling together

I am very proud of the way we have all been supporting one another.  Many of our staff have volunteered to help those in need, both through our Charles Stanley Community and local organisations.  I have also been incredibly touched that so many of our clients have also been showing concern for our welfare.  Here’s a couple of examples of positive feedback this week:

Tsitsi Mutiti, Investment Manager

“I’ve received a lot of contact from clients calling me to find out how I am, which is very nice.”

Charles Stanley Direct client

“A word of thanks!  Last night, it was 11 pm on a Sunday evening and I was dozing off when I remembered it was 5 April and I hadn't used my remaining ISA allowance for the year 19/20.  I logged in, paid the money in with my debit card and within minutes it was showing on my account safely inside the ISA wrapper.  I just wanted you to know what a brilliant site you have put together and how helpful it is to your grateful clients.”

Market update

The markets remain volatile, with the tentative recovery and gains we are starting to see from the previous dip remaining precarious.  For our latest market commentary please read the more detailed update on our dedicated coronavirus page.
