Should Saudi Aramco list in London?

Saudi Arabia’s state-owned oil company Aramco has ambitious plans to float next year. The listing would be positive for Saudi Arabia and Aramco, but is it a good idea to list in the UK?

The recent collapse in the oil price prompted an economic crisis in Saudi Arabia, an economy that is almost completely reliant on oil income. Aramco is responsible for generating about 70% of government revenues. The subsequent largesse it can provide to its citizens keeps the nation stable and the House of Saud in power.
