House builders hit by Budget move

Today’s Budget from Philip Hammond had little impact on financial markets, but proposals to look at whether house builders are hoarding land hit the sector.

Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond’s Budget proposal to examine whether house builders were sitting on land to restrict supply and keep house prices high hit the sector’s major players. In afternoon trading there were the following moves: Barratt Developments (-3.14%); Persimmon (-2.5%); Bovis (-1%); Taylor Wimpey (-1.6%) and Berkeley (-1.3%).
