Traded Options can be combined to produce various strategies, from speculation to hedging or enhancing returns on equity portfolios. At Charles Stanley we have had an experienced Traded Options team since 1991 offering a full advisory service and efficient execution of orders direct to the LIFFE Connect screen-trading system.
This growing area of our business provides clients with the ability to hedge and speculate successfully whether prices are moving upwards, downwards or sideways. Certain other connected products are also available. Traded Options can be combined to produce various strategies, from speculation to hedging or enhancing returns on equity portfolios.
As a client of Charles Stanley, to suit your requirements we are happy to offer advisory and dealing-only Traded Options services through a Stockbroker in your local Charles Stanley office, or through our specialist Traded Options Dealing Desk in London

Derivatives may not be suitable or appropriate for all investors and it is recommended that you seek professional advice prior to any decision to deal in such instruments. The price of such instruments can move significantly and rapidly, and you should be aware that this could result in the loss of some or all, or in some circumstances more than, your initial investment.
CFDs & Spread-Betting
Charles Stanley is able to offer clients access to Contracts for Differences (CFDs) and Spread Betting in association with selected third parties. Deals may be placed through your Charles Stanley broker and executed by our dedicated CFD dealing team, which has a wealth of experience in the sector.
CFDs provide a way to trade on the price movements of a wide range of assets, including equities, indices, currencies and commodities, without needing to buy and hold the underlying asset directly, thereby not attracting stamp duty under current tax rules. They can be used to speculate on upward or downward price movements, making them a flexible alternative to traditional trading.
Spread Betting is another fast-paced, flexible way to trade price movements in financial markets without directly holding the underlying investments. Regardless of the direction that markets move, clients can take a position to gain exposure to this movement for a fraction of the capital outlay required to trade the market directly. Financial Spread Betting also offers tax advantages over direct investment: as with CFD trading, spread betting is free of stamp duty. Furthermore, it is currently exempt from UK Capital Gains Tax. However, tax laws are subject to change and the benefit of this exception would depend on your individual circumstances.
