The Inheritance Tax Portfolio Service consists of an investment portfolio, personal to you and managed by us on a discretionary basis. When we build your Inheritance Tax Portfolio, it is built to an original design we create together with you - not to a generic blueprint taken off the shelf.
Once you and your Charles Stanley Investment Manager have established your personal investment strategy, your Investment Manager can call on the support of our highly qualified Asset Management team and our award-winning Smaller Companies Research Team, to assist in selecting the companies in which to invest.
Conscious that investing in smaller companies involves a higher degree of risk, our primary objective is to safeguard your capital by careful selection of companies, and then to diversify the risk through a minimum of 20 different companies (ideally 30 if size permits), from a variety of sectors. Secondary objectives are to achieve capital growth and to generate dividend income.
Obviously, the handmade nature of each Charles Stanley investment portfolio means that all portfolios vary, depending on the timing of the investments made, each client's risk tolerance and their overall investment objectives. The dividend income will also vary from one portfolio to another, but we aim to create a dividend yield that will at least cover the annual management fees for the portfolio.
Under current legislation the value of the qualifying investments falls outside your taxable Estate - as long as they have been held for a minimum of two years - and on death can be passed to your beneficiaries in full.
There are many ways of reducing your taxable Estate. However, some of these can be expensive, complicated, and result in you losing the benefits of the assets. The IHT Porfolio Service is cost effective, relatively simple, and allows you to retain full ownership of the investments and the income derived from them.
Charles Stanley's Inheritance Tax Portfolio Service invests in portfolios made up of qualifying stocks quoted primarily on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM). It should be noted that investments in unquoted companies involve a higher degree of risk. We seek to reduce the risk through diversification, but a portfolio of this type will not be suitable for all investors. Further notes on the risks involved are detailed here.
