There are no tailwinds at ITV

As it is revealed that easyJet chief executive Carolyn McCall will leave the airline to take the top job at ITV, here’s a look at the challenges she will face at the Coronation Street and X Factor broadcaster.

Dame Carolyn McCall, former chief executive of the loss-making Guardian Media Group and current head of short-haul airline easyJet, will replace Adam Crozier at the helm of ITV. As the TV audience fragments and advertisers switch to platforms such as Facebook and Google, the challenges Dame Carolyn will face at the broadcaster of mid-to-low market television programmes such as Love Island and Loose Women are very real.
