Our Selection Criteria


If you are interested in applying for a place on the Graduate Training Programme please email your CV with a covering letter to che.stoddart@charles-stanley.co.uk. If we have a possible opportunity and you meet the minimum requirements as detailed below, you may be invited to attend an interview. The number of candidates we invite to interview will, of course, be determined by the number of places on the programme we have to offer. We generally have two intakes of graduates each year, so if you are not short-listed for one intake, your details may be put on hold to be considered for the next intake.

You will need to evidence strong academic ability including a 2.1 degree or above (achieved or predicted) in a relevant discipline. Additionally, we will also look for enthusiasm, drive and ambition at the interview, as well as good inter-personal skills.

The interview process consists of two main stages:

The first interview will be with a senior member of the HR team and an experienced Investment Manager. You will be required to make a brief presentation at this interview - details of which will be given to you upon arrival. You will have 30 minutes to prepare the presentation prior to the interview itself.

If successful at this stage you will be invited back for a second interview. This time the interview will be conducted by a panel with a number of Charles Stanley practitioners. At this interview you will also be required sit online numerical and verbal reasoning tests; the results of which will be considered in the decision

We will make our decision after the second interview and provide feedback for any candidates not selected.
